A year ago today at approximately 9pm 2 big white trucks pulled up to our house. In the trucks were 4 humans, puppy raising gear, a Momma dog and 10 puppies that were 3 days old.
Jeff and I had no idea the ride we were in for and how our lives were about to change.
In less than 2 hours Texas Sporting Breed Rescue had transformed one room in our home into a puppy raising room, given us the run down on how to handle our first night with the litter, and our journey began.
Yep, we had agreed to foster a litter of puppies. How exciting right?
Jeff had no experience raising puppies. My experience came from the little bit I learned as a child (my father raised hunting dogs). I’d been around litters all my life however raising pure bred hunting dogs is much different than raising a litter that had been dumped at a shelter.
There were many sleepless nights, lots of education , a ton of emotions, but in the end fostering this litter was worth every bit of time and energy it took.
This weekend we were able to celebrate the journey as the puppies turned 1 year old.
We had a Pawty!!
Here’s a sneak peek of the party…..we had so much fun…stay tuned for the details and more pictures.
Thank you to Lonna at Schuurman Photography for capturing these great memories.
